Rights & Reproductions

The copyright for works of art by Arshile Gorky resides with the Arshile Gorky Foundation, which is represented by the Artists Rights Society (ARS), New York.  Please use the following guidelines to assist you with the licensing process.

Step 1: Acquire permission

Send a formal request for any reproduction or other use in writing to:

In America:
The Artists Rights Society
536 Broadway, 5th Floor
New York, NY 10012 USA

Outside America:
ARS maintains bilateral agreements with similar societies in Canada, Mexico, and Australia as well as many countries in South America, Europe, and Asia.  Consult the Artist Rights Society for the appropriate contact information.

Step 2: Obtain Photographic Material for Reproduction

Unfortunately, the Foundation is unable to lend photographic material (transparencies, digital images, photographs, and slides) from its archive. To acquire an image, please contact the current owner of the painting, drawing, or sculpture. In addition to museums, galleries, and some private collections, a select number of images are available through Art Resource and the Bridgeman Art Library. The lending institution will provide you with additional obligatory caption information, such as the collection credit line.
